Crystal Ball

Dec.2009 – “Crystal Ball” - interactive artwork that functions like a visualization ball for the main trends at each time emerged from the presence social network/microblog Twitter. Through the Twitter’s Trending Topics (TT), translated into images (via Google Images), Crystal Ball allows seeing and interacting with what is impacting our planet in real time providing the visualization of the network interpreted by itself, where the action of each person, consciously or not, affect the whole. This artwork has been presented as invited at Mobilefest 2009, São Paulo, Brazil, 11-15.nov.2009.

Sensitive Rose

Nov.2008 - “Sensitive Rose” - interactive web artwork that functions as a compass rose that maps and navigates in the desires of the people who participate. The interactions are done via cell phone and the compass rose forms a codified poetics of mobile tags (QRcodes) that cannot be deciphered in naked eyes. This artwork was commissioned by Nokia and has been presented as invited at Nokia Trends Sao Paulo 2008, Brazil, 28.nov.2008; Festival de La Imagen – Media Art, Manizales, Colombia, apr.2009; E-Poetry Festival 2009, Barcelona, Spain, apr.2009; ISEA International Symposium on Electronic Arts 2009, Belfast, Ireland, aug.2009; invited for solo exhibition at SESC Araraquara, Brazil, from nov.17 to dec.20.2009;awarded at Florence Biennale 2009, Florence, Italy, dec.2009.

ROSAdosVENTOS.mobi

Sept.2008 - “ROSAdosVENTOS.mobi” - digital printed artwork (dimensions 1m x 1m) that functions as a compass rose created with mobile tags (QRCodes and Datamatrix) for navigating the digital online world. The panel works like a gateway between the physical and online digital world by scanning the compass rose mobile codes using any mobile device with camera (cellphones or PDAs). This artwork was presented at the Unicentro Belas Artes de São Paulo’s Postgraduate Program 10th Anniversary Exhibition, oct.2008, Brazil;invited at Mobilefest at Campus Party Brazil, jan.2009; invited at Exposição FLUIR, Resende, RJ, Brazil, ago.2009

Locative Painting

Dec.2007 - “Locative Painting” - locative web artwork that forms a painting on the screen where the strokes are giving by the participants according to their geographical position (zip code). The participant chooses the stroke color and his/her stroke is given from the previous participant’s position to his/her location on the screen. After participating, the person receives the painting with his/her stroke by email and SMS (on the cell phone). Each person has his/her moment in the painting and the strokes connecting people creates the painting community exchanging and crossing paths. This art work was created with the support of Nokia and has been presented as invited atNokia Trends 2007, Brazil, 8.dez.2007. Jul.2007 - “SKINdoscopeSL” - Second Life version of the SKINdoscope artwork (see concepts in the work below), where the kaleidoscope is formed by the leaves of a tree. Each avatar who interacts creates a leaf with his/her skin color and each 10 leaves created causes the tree to produce a coin of L$ 1,00, which can be taken by any avatar who touches it. Based on interactors’ data (skin color, name, city, country, gender, height and weight) the work creates different visual kaleidoscopes intending to cause reflection about people’s differences and similarities.
